The Makers Program provides Black & Latino artisanal makers with the resources and guidance they need to build scalable product-based businesses. Makers participate in a 12 week program to learn business fundamentals including forming a legal entity, marketing, raising capital and more. It includes a comprehensive curriculum, structured to meet the unique needs of entrepreneurs with handcrafted products. They connect directly with local retailers, learn how to wholesale their work, and get one-on-one guidance from local experts & professionals in St. Louis. The program closes with a celebratory test-market & pop-up event, The Makers Mart!
The Makers Mart provides a platform for artisanal makers & conscious shoppers to connect. Through this pop-up market, makers are able to test market their products, capture real-time data, and introduce their brands to the community. We partner with local retailers & formally introduce them to the Makers in an effort to facilitate & support wholesale opportunities. Makers additionally become acquainted with potential retail events across the region.
During this workshop, designer De Nichols will teach participants fundamentals of building the brand of their creative enterprises. Topics will explore design strategies, organizational systems, voice and tone, and more.
