Black Is the New Black

  • The Crack Fox 1114 Olive St, St. Louis 63101 (map)

Qu’Art is a St. Louis-based arts initiative that promotes the diversity and visibility of queer artists by organizing seasonal exhibits, events, and performances throughout the region. For February 2018, Qu’Art will celebrate Black History Month with its show “Black Is the New Black,” which centers works by local Black artists and allies responding to this theme.

For this one-night art show and experience, De Nichols will both showcase a video projection and serve as a panelist during evening discussion about the intersection of race, gender, and sexuality. Her video, Prose & Protest Reloaded, interweaves footage from moments of protest with a series of monologues by Black and Brown women leaders and elders sharing memoirs and calls to action about police brutality as it has affected the region of St. Louis, MO.

Please join De and an array of other artists for this show on Saturday, February 24, at The Crack Fox in downtown St. Louis. Access additional details and information via Facebook.
