The recent political climate has spurred a proliferation of artist involvement in expressions of protest and resistance, from banners and signs used in Washington, DC to works used as retail window protection in Oakland. Other artists have applied art and physical movement to address commercial investment inequities; or alternatively to be a spatial first-responder providing viable pathways for creative community development strategies that align with local context and an inclusive community voice.
