At her photo shoot, Latosha (@latoshabaker) told us she’s opening a new store & getting ready 4 an important symbolic milestone. We were so moved by her story, we wanted to share it with the #FacesOfTheMovement audience so we went there to document the moment. The west-side STL Neighborhood at Arlington and MLK has been home to Latosha’s family for 56 years. Next month, LaTosha will realize her dream to open her People’s Store right there at Arlington & MLK.She joined with her partner, Elena (@lenacoby), Spann (@MalcolmXcelsior), family and neighbors in the important symbolic act of removing the bars from the storefront. “It’s liberating to remove those bars. It’s like one less chain. I trust, I love, I support, I believe in my people.”“This store is not just a new beginning for me but our complete community.”“This store is not my success story but the people’s success story. I believe in this.” -@latoshabaker LaTosha in front of The People’s Store with her grandfather Julius, daughter Brianna and grandson Ethan.
